1. Make Time: How to Focus on What Matters Every Day

Description

"A charming manifestoas well as an intrepid do-it-yourself guide to building smart habits that stick. If you want to achieve more (without going nuts), read this book."Charles Duhigg, bestselling author ofThe Power of HabitandSmarter Faster Better

From the New York Times bestselling authors of Sprint, a simple 4-step system for improving focus, finding greater joy in your work, and getting more out of every day.

Nobody ever looked at an empty calendar and said, "The best way to spend this time is by cramming it full of meetings!" or got to work in the morning and thought, Today I'll spend hours on Facebook! Yet that's exactly what we do. Why?

In a world where information refreshes endlessly and the workday feels like a race to react to other people's priorities faster, frazzled and distracted has become our default position. But what if the exhaustion of constant busyness wasn't mandatory? What if you could step off the hamster wheel and start taking control of your time and attention? That's what this book is about.

As creators of Google Ventures' renowned "design sprint," Jake and John have helped hundreds of teams solve important problems by changing how they work. Building on the success of these sprints and their experience designing ubiquitous tech products from Gmail to YouTube, they spent years experimenting with their own habits and routines, looking for ways to help people optimize their energy, focus, and time. Now they've packaged the most effective tactics into a four-step daily framework that anyone can use to systematically design their days. Make Time is not a one-size-fits-all formula. Instead, it offers a customizable menu of bite-size tips and strategies that can be tailored to individual habits and lifestyles.

Make Time isn't about productivity, or checking off more to-dos. Nor does it propose unrealistic solutions like throwing out your smartphone or swearing off social media. Making time isn't about radically overhauling your lifestyle; it's about making small shifts in your environment to liberate yourself from constant busyness and distraction.

A must-read for anyone who has ever thought, If only there were more hours in the day..., Make Time will help you stop passively reacting to the demands of the modern world and start intentionally making time for the things that matter.

2. The Bullet Journal Method: Track the Past, Order the Present, Design the Future

Description

New York Times bestseller! The long-awaited book by the founder of the enormously popular Bullet Journal planner, journal, calendar, and all-around organizational system.

For years Ryder Carroll tried countless organizing systems, online and off, but none of them fit the way his mind worked. Out of sheer necessity, he developed a method called the Bullet Journal that helped him become consistently focused and effective. When he started sharing his system with friends who faced similar challenges, it went viral. Just a few years later, to his astonishment, Bullet Journaling is a global movement.

The Bullet Journal Method is about much more than organizing your notes and to-do lists. It's about what Carroll calls "intentional living": weeding out distractions and focusing your time and energy in pursuit of what's truly meaningful, in both your work and your personal life. It's about spending more time with what you care about, by working on fewer things. His new book shows you how to...

*Track the past: Using nothing more than a pen and paper, create a clear and comprehensive record of your thoughts.

*Order the present: Find daily calm by tackling your to-do list in a more mindful, systematic, and productive way.

*Design the future: Transform your vague curiosities into meaningful goals, and then break those goals into manageable action steps that lead to big change.

Carroll wrote this book for frustrated list-makers, overwhelmed multitaskers, and creatives who need some structure. Whether you've used a Bullet Journal for years or have never seen one before, The Bullet Journal Method will help you go from passenger to pilot of your own life.

"Quite simply, we love the Time Timer. If you use the Time Timer when you're getting into laser mode, you'll feel an instant, visceral sense of urgency, in a totally good way." - Jake Knapp and John Zeratsky.

Use the Time Timer PLUS Make Time edition to defend against distraction, find that laser-focus to make sure each day's highlight is accomplished and reflect on a job well done.

The Time Timer PLUS 120 Minute Visual Timer - Make Time Edition also includes a Make Time notepad to help you identify your daily highlight and get your good habit started. Life is full of distractions, but it doesn't have to be!

INSTRUCTIONS
To use the Time Timer PLUS, install one AA battery. Select the alert volume (silent to loud) by using the volume-control dial on the back of the timer. To set the timer, turn the center knob on the front of the timer counter-clockwise to the duration you require. Immediately, the timer begins to quietly count down in a clockwise direction - with no distracting ticking sound! A quick glance will show you the time left thanks to the brightly colored disk and easy-to-read, large numbers.

ALERT
A volume-control dial is located on the back of the Time Timer PLUS and controls the audible alert when timing is complete. The dial may be turned all the way down to silent for sound-sensitive environments. When the volume-control dial is set to the volume of your choice (other than silent), an audible alert will sound for a few seconds when timing is complete. The alert consists of 2 beeps in quick succession which sounds four times in a row. The alert stops after four consecutive double-beeps.

BATTERIES
To ensure accurate timing, please use high-quality, brand-name batteries. It is not recommended to use rechargeable batteries as they tend to become depleted far more quickly than traditional batteries. It is recommended that you leave the battery inside of your Time Timer so that it is ready to use at a moment's notice. However, if you do not plan to use your Time Timer for a long period of time, please remove the battery to avoid the battery corroding in the battery compartment.

The Time Timer PLUS battery compartment (all Time Timer PLUS models) is securely closed by a small screw in adherence with the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) standards.Although the timer is not a toy, we do realize the product may be used around small children. Therefore, the battery compartment is securely closed by a small screw. You will need a mini Phillips Head screwdriver to open and close the battery compartment. View the UserGuide.pdf for battery compartment images.

TIME TIMER PRODUCT CARE

Clock movements with a quartz crystal (like what is inside the Time Timer) are sensitive to being dropped or thrown - just like a clock that you would hang on the wall. Please use with care.
